Beazley responds to BCA criticism of AWAs policy

Opposition Leader Kim Beazley has defended his plans to abolish AWAs, telling the Business Council that the individual contracts, along with the removal of the no disadvantage test, undermine employer incentives to boost productivity and set in train an "inevitable" race to the bottom.

AIRC says operational reasons defence stacked against workers

The AIRC has rejected an unfair dismissal application under the Work Choices exclusion for "genuine operational reasons" and has noted that few employees will have the resources or capability to challenge such an employer claim.
