The Howard Government today accused Labor and unions of "irresponsible fear-mongering" for reporting claims of unwarranted dismissals since the commencement of the remaining Work Choices changes on Monday.

Prime Minister John Howard today rejected claims that the Work Choices Act commencing today imposes excessive regulation on businesses, saying the laws will strengthen the economy.
